Carmen Betances is the Co-Chair of the board of Jane Addams Senior Caucus, and is active on the Housing Committee and Collective Care Team. Carmen has been an activist her whole life, from advocating for children and families, to being an educator, to now working for seniors. Carmen grew up speaking Spanish as her first language in her Puerto Rican household, and moved from the Bronx to Chicago 41 years ago. Carmen is a storyteller by nature, and is a writer documenting the stories of her own experience, and that of her family and neighbors. Carmen spends her time helping her neighbors understand their rights, talking to her community, and continuing her life’s passion of justice for all.
